Deso: At first I had slowly tried to sneak up on her as she had sung some unknown melody to herself, basking in the sun. I could only make out bright blonde hair, almost golden in the suns rays. To my dismay when I approached her she was not there. I debated whether I was going insane. Every time I ventured into the forest I would seek out the unknown girl. Here in the trees every figment of my imagination came to life, perhaps creating the girl with the golden hair. Alarming enough it sadly became my soul purpose venturing into the trees to search for her. Soon I had had enough and avoided the forest for a few days, instead inviting the boys over to my house. Mom was delighted for the company and made snacks, spoiling us with treats. The day passed, but the blonde girl was never far from my mind. I debated with myself that it was only because I could not fully see her, in order to justify that I was so enthralled by her.The next time I saw her Duke and I were far into the forest, further than we had ever been. Ripples of sunlight produced an illusion of movement all around her, as she sat on a small boulder with her knees pulled up. When Duke barked I dropped down into a shadowy crevice, trying to hide from view. My heart was pumping nervously. When I braved a peek, my mouth unhinged when I saw the girl tenderly patting Duke. With her distracted and a little closer than the first time, I allowed myself to gaze at her without reservations. She did not look Spanish, quiet the contrary. I wondered if she lived somewhere in the mountains. Her abundant waves of hair hung in a loose plate draped over her shoulders. I noticed her unusual attire, not something you would see on your average teenager. She was wearing a light green silvery coated dress, which was cropped at the shoulders leaving them seductively exposed......Her dazzling eyes held me transfixed. They were a light shade of violet, with darker specs around the pupils. Long lashes contoured them holding me captive. I found myself falling deeper into her eyes loosing myself. My first guess when my mind finally came around was , that she was wearing contacts. But I didn’t care, her eyes suited her. It enhanced her face and made her look more gorgeous and magical. Her cheek bones were high on her face, and she had the perfect nose in the middle of her oval features.
Clara: I greeted each one individually then stopped and turned as all the boys eyes abruptly diverted from me to someone behind me. I turned around and my gaze met large chocolaty brown eyes belonging to a pretty Spanish looking girl. I froze caught completely off guard. Her eyes had a tinge of hazel as she met mine enquiringly. She wore flat cropped brown boots, just below the knees overlapping black stockings covered by a large blue sweater snugly showing off her curves. Her shoulder length black hair, with brown highlights perfectly contoured her face and her dark skin complexion. There was no denying she was a little more than pretty, beautiful in fact.Clara: I greeted each one individually then stopped and turned as all the boys eyes abruptly diverted from me to someone behind me. Nevrhada forest: The towering trees were in their own right, magnificent. It appeared like they had real brownish veins, that were pulsating. The brown had a red hue, only contributed to the illusory scene. I held my breath and inched forward, my hand itched to touch this bizarre sight. I needed to see if this was real. Standing next to this colossal tree with its unexplainable pulsating veins I felt very insignificant. As my hand eagerly traced the path of the vein, I was momentarily taken aback at how smooth and cool the surface was. I briefly recalled the familiar dream again, perhaps this was a new extension to it, because the trees were identical in both dreams. The small spots of grass located randomly on the forest floor had bright neon green tips. I crouched down and ran my hand over a small patch. What was even more fascinating was the neon colours, the vegetation seemed to be sparkling like they were constructed from millions of tiny diamonds. I slowly walked in between the trees, allowing myself to get lost in this imaginary world. The air was crisp and I could feel the wind against my skin. I tried to rationalize that this must be the most vivid dream a person could fabricate. I smiled rather pleased that I was this creative. As I strolled aimlessly along I noticed spots of purple and yellow flowers along the way, clinging to the roots of the trees. Again the flowers were bright neon, and the detail imprinted on the flowers was astonishing, they looked like they were also pulsating. I noticed my clothes appeared to be soaked, as if I had run though rain. Odd. I was so absorbed in my immediate surroundings I didn’t once glance up, as I did so I watched spellbound as the trees leaves acted as a canopy. The dark green neon leaves collided with each other in an unexplainable way creating a roof top of this enchanted forest. I stopped in mid thought, and realized that this forest was precisely that, enchanted. I entered a clearing and gasped at the scene greeting me. It was breath taking. Colours of all shades in neon, sparkling like diamonds. The sky was black against the kaleidoscope of vivid colours.
Tagar: “I am fine Sir Keith...” She trailed off, standing motionless next to the animal that appeared with a small movement could devour her in seconds. I watched Deso reach out a hand and before I could stop her she stroked the beast. Had she gone mad? I questioned…..There was a startled gasp from Deso and monstrous growl from the black catlike beast. I staggered backwards still flashing as the animal stood on its hind legs, towering over us.The ground shook as its weight violently crashed to the soil. It looked like all its scales were on end and the orange light radiated happily from their hidden chambers…..Deso gracefully swung herself on the beasts’ gigantic body. I closed my eyes for a few seconds expecting to hear horrifying sounds, but peeked from under my lashes when I heard a soft purr again. I watched as Deso stroked the animal lovingly on the neck. An unstated element between us left me feeling like a deer suddenly facing a hunter, paralyzed unsure which way to turn. Deso placed out her hand offering a reasonable way forward. Get on that thing, no way my mind screamed rationally…. I must have passed out because when I woke up, I was laying face down riding the black animal. My legs were braced apart, like one would ride a horse. Despite the inspiring, yet terrifying view from the top of the panthers back I felt comfortable. I sat up enjoying the wind on my face; the cool nippy air was refreshing. I was taken aback to see how stealthy the animal was for his bulk, he was running at a swift rate. I looked at my hands as they unconsciously clutched the scales of the animal. I couldn’t resist pulling up one scale as I watched orange light spill out. Deso Teleporting: “I can be anywhere I want in seconds” Deso replied secretively providing no explanation. “Anywhere?” I asked not believing her. “Anywhere Deso mouthed”. “That’s not fair, show me” I said walking toward her. Deso only smiled ruefully. “I want you to be there” I said pointing to a small rock a few feet away. There was a challenge in my voice, one I knew she could not resist. She sighed playfully and took a step towards the rock. What happened next was absolutely amazing. As Deso stepped forward her body started to evaporate like tiny grains of sand the mass moved together. The grains of sand drifted apart, I could still make out her face, every detail of her as the grains became smaller and smaller, moving as a union as one floating then as she moved along some of the grains trailed behind and the whole package disappeared altogether. A second later Deso emerged perfectly whole on the other side, next to the small boulder. I watched stunned as I gaped, I didn’t bother to hide my shock. The process was repeated as Deso moved towards me, she reappeared by my side smiling. I wanted to say something but I couldn’t, I stuttered incoherently a few times then gave up. Deso didn’t offer any words to explain so I eventually I mentally shook myself and finally asked “What was that?” I asked not bothering to sugar coat it. “It is how we get from place to place, teleporting. And no only the royal elves and faries can do that” Deso finished… |
Burrowers: As the creatures moved it made a crunching like sound in the soil, as the moving soil gave way to the figures stirring beneath them. The wraithlike vapour of mist still desperately clung to the ground heedless of the moving loam. The mist appears unperturbed as it was ruthlessly pushed aside to make way for the soil. The closer the three pair of red eyes drew, I watched stunned as a figure emerged rising from the soil. Four pairs of bony black grey hands and fingers clutched at the soil, as the creature dragged himself from the dark murky depths of the mud speeding on. At first I thought that there were two creatures side by side which would explain the four arms, then realization dawned as the creature lunged further out of the soil. It had four arms leading from its shoulder blades giving it a spider look. With skeleton like hands, trimmed by sharp tainted red nails attached to each of the four hands. I guessed the extra arms would be useful for burrowing. A dark skull emerged with black gaping holes for eyes, and offish grey teeth as the skeleton faces turned towards me.

Mother of Spiders: “I would like you to meet the mother of the spiders” Deso whispered excitedly as she stepped onto a small rising slope. The fog didn’t cover the small hill as it rose at a steep incline above the ground. I was glad to be on higher ground, where I could see what I was stepping on. As we steered clear of all the vegetation I glanced up and saw a blinding white light. I had to wait for my eyes to get accustomed to the abrupt change of scenery. Deso walked a few paces and stopped looking into a small carven. I was a few feet behind her so it took me a while longer to reach her side. When I stood next to her and looked in the same direction, I caught my breath. Never had I imagined seeing what we did. There was a gigantic spider web, which appeared to have been sown by the finest silk. The detail was remarkable as the lines merged, and led into a web that was sparkling like diamonds. The web physically looked like millions of tiny shimmering diamonds which had diligently been sown onto the intricate lines, to cause the web to purposefully illuminate. The vegetation around the web was pitch black as the white light cast light on to the seemingly lifeless wood. There were larger diamonds on some ends as the lines merged into a corporal point. If it had been raining I could have easily mistaken the small diamonds for water droplets as they appeared so transparent. This however wasn’t the most extraordinary and imaginative aspect about the whole web. There was a naked woman lying on the web. She was breathless, nothing on Deso but a different kind of appeal. In fact she looked more like a porn star. Her large breasts and curves lay tempting on the web, but her body was interwoven into the silky strands acting as a blanket covering her nudity. The web physically covered her private parts only leaving as much skin exposed and the rest your imagination could concoct. She had milky white skin almost translucent, with hair the same colour as the fibers of the web. Her hair lay trussed next to her head, shinning in the webs white light. The womans eyes were closed but I could hear the humming continue in a soft sad melody. She seemed so peaceful, so serene I couldn’t possibly imagine her being in direct correlation to the creepy black insects that covered the forest floor. Deso thumbed me in the side with her elbow. I peered at her and she smiled appearing like she was enjoying herself. I returned her smile. It took me a while to realize that the forest had gone unnaturally quiet. The silence was almost deafening. Deso seemed worried now which instantly caught my attention. I slid my eyes ever so slowly to the woman on the web, the mother of the spiders as Deso had said and gasped when I saw striking, hypnotic white eyes glare at me. |
Guardian Fairy: “Did you ask permission to cross the bridge?” She asked urgently looking fearful. Her voice matched perfectly to the child-.like youthful atmosphere that was encircling her. “What bridge?” I asked confused. The stream was so small it couldn’t have a bridge. “How did you cross the stream?” the little blonde hair girl asked wringing her hands clearly very nervous. “I jumped over the stream, then heard your bells and started running” I replied shrugging, not knowing why she looked so terrified, I was harmless. I watched her hands fly to her mouth only to see them drop like dead weight to her sides again “Oh No” she whispered. “We have to run” I looked at her perplexed now. “We have to run” she said a little louder before I could ask or even react the little girl glided over to me so speedily I couldn’t comprehend how she did that. I didn’t even see her feet move. I felt her small hand in mine before I saw it. I didn’t have time to linger she was pulling me along running faster than I thought possible. I stumbled a few times trying to keep up with her. Her hand disappeared from mine as I saw her disappear into the tall grass in front of me. I broke free from the grass and saw her a few paces ahead her gaze turning over her shoulder scanning the grass behind me. Without warning a long green vine reached out from the grass and grabbed the little girl tossing her in to the air. I was about to run after her when I felt something at my feet. I looked down shocked to see the same vine was entwined around my leg. I tried to detach the plant. It wouldn’t budge it seemed to be wrapping itself around me tighter and tighter. I pulled and twisted, it didn’t budge. I was horrified now, my heart hammered against my ribs. I saw a figure emerge from the tall grass. The figure was of a woman; her entire body covered in what looked like short stems of grass. She was a shade of light green. Her appearance reminded me of the woman on the X-men dressed in blue. The vine on my leg started pulling me towards her. I struggled helplessly and watched as the green creature devoid of any emotion just stood there staring at me. I gapped as I saw the vines were attached to her head, like hair. She was pulling me. Her entire head was covered in long vines. I knew now this was the creature the little girl said we should run from. “Look here, I’m sorry I’m lost” The words were barely audible as I stuttered trying to explain my presence. The creature placed her hands on the ground now and let out a ferocious snarl like the one I heard earlier. For some reason I didn’t think the beast wanted an explanation. She started dragging me after her as she made her way back to the stream. I clawed at the ground trying to hold on to something. I desperately grabbed handfuls of stones tossing it at the creature. For awhile I didn’t think it even felt it until it paused and glared at me. Her lips curved in a sneer.... |
Vid Salvaje: I sighed, Deso must have heard me because she stopped and spun around “Once the vines encircle you, don’t move, not an inch, not a sound. In fact try not to breathe.” Deso shifted the baby gargoyle to her other hip and continued “If you do not lure them out they will lose interest and move away” She said while walking off. Still clutching my sword I followed. We had not gone very far when Deso stopped without warning, almost making me slam right into her as my eyes were directed to the trees still silently challenging the poignant vines. She raised her hand slowly and pointed to a large black boulder enclosed by mist, so only half of the boulder was exposed. On top of the boulder sat a figure, casually flat on his bottom, his legs bent, but crossed at the ankles and his one arm draped over his knees. His stance indicated he was patient, and peaceful there elevated on the boulder peering out into the dark forest. What he was staring at I didn’t know, there wasn’t much of a view in this creepy place. The boughs of the trees creaked as the branches hung limply from the trees, reaching out to us. “Who is that?” I asked Deso in a distressed voice without breaking eye contact with the figure on the massive boulder. “Vid Salvaje” Deso whispered quietly back. We were standing inches from each other both facing the figure on the rocks. “Wild vine, he is the one that controls the vines” Deso announced and once again without warning just stepped forward and continued walking as if the man was no threat. But I knew different... |
Mariposa (Mother of Butterflies): “Keith look, it is the Mariposa” Fayette whispered urgently. That got my attention. I couldn’t imagine how more spectacular the mother of this butterfly looked. Spectacular was an underrated word for the Mariposa. The insect had a human body, a woman with striking red hair, her darkly tanned skin was wrapped up in what looked like tattoos from this angle. She had a bright orange pendant the same colour as her hair, that was tightly hugging her forehead as the pendant dangled just above her nose amid her eyebrows. The Mariposa lay with her stomach flat on the bark of a tree, her legs slightly bent and her arms stretched out, as if she was about to move. She stayed glued to the tree, her bent arms and legs moving at a snails pace. I was surprised when I realized that the woman was stark naked, only tattoos covering where they could and would. The unique purple colour on the glowing butterfly that had strayed from the group I had seen a few minutes before were tattooed on to the woman’s eyes, right around her eye brows in a cat-eye shape, with the exception that the edges were shaped like butterfly wings, the last wing leading down to her cheek bones Closer now I realized all her tattoos were in shape of butterflies. The tattoos in a butterfly shape were printed around her two wrists, her two ankles, just above both elbows and on both of her outside thighs. I was amazed when I noticed that from one tattoo a small butterfly emerged. It just materialized out of her skin, the exact same shape and size as the mothers tattoo. It fluttered into the air joining the others nearby. This was miraculous. The baby butterflies where born from their mothers skin. The Mariposa cocked her head and scrutinised me as diligently as I did her. She seemed passive as she continued to pore over first me then Fayette, her eyes moving slowly as a coy smile danced on the edges of her lips. The most awe-inspiring and overwhelming facet about the Mariposa was her wings. They directly linked her to her children, their hue of colour were identical and glowing just as bright, the only difference was the amount of wings that graced her back were triple the amount of wings on her children. Where the normal butterfly had four wings the Mariposa went all out, with an extravagant number of twelve pairs of wings. The wings were attached to her spinal cord, each one nestled perfectly either above or below the other. She broke her gaze and her coy smile broadened to a grin as perfectly straight white teeth greeted me. I had no idea if Fayette was as mesmerized as I was, she stayed here so perhaps this was normal to her since she most likely encountered these creatures more often than I did. The Mariposa’s wings were beating so fast now it was hard to concentrate on them, the hovering grew louder and without any notice and warning the beautiful butterfly lifted gracefully from the tree in a fluid movement and took to the air, without a word. She vanished into the branches above, soon followed by the blinding mixture of lights. The younger butterflies followed their mother and faded away, leaving me to gawk after them |
Gargoyles: A distant shriek sounded from somewhere in the forest and I froze, slowly sinking into the slimy mud for safety. The mud acted as a disguise, then again this forest seemed to be the master of disguise, housing creatures that without lifting a finger. The shriek did not escape from the gargoyles mouth that was perched on to the branch above us, so I assumed another one was in the area. Seconds later a dark shadow like lightning flew overhead to fast to see. It’s screeching seem to follow along like a shadow as it ducked and dived through the branches. As the large dark figure doubled back, I caught a glimpse of its fuming face, its large horns extending from its grey head allowed me to see that it was another gargoyle, identical to the one that was now sitting by watching its mate control the scene…..Deso trailed off into silence just as the creature with the horns swooped out of nowhere and hovered slightly above us. His massive wings beating furiously in the air, the wind it created was an astonishingly powerful gust that without effort blew away the top layer of mud covering our bodies. Once the piercing green eyes dropped to the ground, he let out a victorious shriek and lowered himself till his clawed feet were barely grazing my body. I saw Deso squirm and roll over to avoid being slaughtered. I was prepared to do the same, but was not so fortunate as the gargoyle lowered its massive body, trapping me in place, pinning me as his claws lowered and sunk into my skin. An excruciating scream ripped from my throat as his nails tore away at my tender flesh... |
